Motorcyclist Behaviour Assessments – Multi-State

The Challenge

Assessment of innovative line markings designed to reduce motorcycle rider speed on approach to curves and encourage selection of the safest riding path through curves. The project needed to evaluate effectiveness across 16 sites in 3 states over 3 phases spanning 18 months.

Our Solution

Real Time Traffic deployed NearMiss technology in partnership with CASR (Centre for Automotive Safety Research) at the University of Adelaide to evaluate line marking treatments for motorcyclists. The Commonwealth-sponsored project uses AI-powered video analytics to collect surrogate safety measures across multiple states.

Implementation Details:

  • Deployed NearMiss cameras at 16 curve locations across 3 states
  • 3-phase deployment over 18 months
  • Motorcycle-specific behaviour monitoring and analysis
  • AI-powered video analytics for surrogate safety measures
  • Collaboration with state transport departments for site selection
