Level Crossing Safety Assessment - Western Australia

The Challenge

With train frequencies and routes changing across the Public Transport Authority Western Australia network, high-risk behaviours at level crossings have increased. The authority needed data-driven insights to understand how people interact with crossings and to inform safety improvements.

Our Solution

In partnership with Altra, Real Time Traffic deployed NearMiss technology to post-process live and historical video from the existing Genetec CCTV system across the level crossing network. This provided a clear, evidence-based picture of pedestrian and vehicle behaviour at crossings without requiring new camera infrastructure.
