Yarra Speed Trial Evaluation

The Challenge

The City of Yarra implemented a 30km/h speed limit trial across selected streets to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety. Comprehensive evaluation was needed to measure the trial's impact on actual vehicle speeds, traffic volumes, and road user behaviour to determine whether the speed reduction achieved its safety objectives.

Real Time Traffic deployed NearMiss and survey technology to conduct a comprehensive before-and-after evaluation of the 30km/h speed trial. The system captured vehicle speeds, volumes, classifications, and interactions with pedestrians and cyclists to provide a complete picture of the trial's effectiveness.
